Does The B&W Companion Require Additional Foot Pads Once Installed

Updated 02/10/2025 | Published 11/27/2021

Question:

I have the BandW Companion however it came without “foot pads” of any type, only a flat rubber pad under the flat framework of the hitch. The hitch does appear to lay flat on the corrugated bed but was wondering of the hitch should have or needs the rubber pads instead again do to the corrugated bed design? Thank you for your reply and information.

Expert Reply:

The B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W should have long plastic foot pads that fit into the slats of a corrugated bed, but there should not be the need of any other kind of pad. With that said, the long plastic foot pads should be used even if the base looks to be sitting properly. These limit/prevent side to side and front to back movement so not all the weight and stress are on the gooseneck hitch.

Can you buy those rubber feet separately? I am buying a used hitch, but the guy doesn't have the feet.

@RandyT Though we do not carry the Plastic Foot Pads (as they are called in their instructions) as a replacement, you should be able to get them directly from B&W. Their customer service team is awesome and very easy to deal with. They even have a chat feature you can use at: https://www.bwtrailerhitches.com/ Or their number is: 1-800-810-4918
