Question:
We have installed and a very happy with the Progressive Dynamics PD4060K Mighty Miniinch panel that we purchased from eTrailer. We also wish to purchase and install a battery isolator that enables overflow current from our starting battery to charge our house battery. Two questions: 1 Please confirm that this battery to battery charging configuration should be direct between starting battery and house battery, and should in no way involve any connection through our PD4060K panel. 2 Does eTrailer sell or recommend a battery isolator for this situation?

I would be happy to answer your questions. First off charging between the house and chassis batteries does not go through the power center you are correct. To answer your second question I reached out to Progressive Dynamics over the weekend and just heard back. Based off of what they told me I recommend the Redarc Smart Start Battery Isolator - Dual Sensing - 12 Volt - 200 Amp item # 331-SBI212D. This dual-sensing battery isolator connects in-line with 2 batteries and transfers power in either direction. The transfers charge from start battery to auxiliary battery once start battery gains charge from alternator. This isolator also works with higher rated alternators. It pulls the power from auxiliary battery that is connected to outside power source to charge the start battery.
