Comparing Demco Recon Gooseneck Adapter and B&W Companion on 2021 F-150 with 6-1/2 Bed

I have a 2021 Ford F-150 with a BandW under Bed turnover gooseneck installed. The bed is 6.5 ft with the bed height of just over 21 and 1/2 inches from bed to top of the rail. I will be pulling a 28’ 5th wheel that I pulled with another truck with a 6.5 ft box. Will the demco recon 8550045 work for me? I like that model because it is lighter than the B and W Companion. Any thoughts are welcome. Thank you

Technically yes, you can use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045. The problem is going to be the limited clearance you will have if you choose to go this route. With a fixed 5th wheel hitch on your 2021 Ford F-150 with a 6-1/2 foot bed I would typically recommend a rotating pin box, but you will not be able to use one with an adapter like the Demco Recon.
I recommend choosing the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3400-5W instead. The built in slider will provide you with the clearance you require. It features a cam-action latching handle to help prevent binding which works well on uneven terrain. With B&W you know you are getting a high-quality, well-built hitch that will last.
Since you mentioned the weight, you might want to check out the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches # BWRVXA3130. This will allow you to lift the Companion using a hoist like the Viking Solutions Rack Jack II Hoist with Winch for 2" Hitches - 300 lbs # 310-VRJ001.
