Question:
Im borrowing a tow vehicle with a fixed 2 ball, but my trailer uses the CT-2001-Z. Do you know if the CT-2001-Z has the same bolt pattern as the CT-3001-Z?

Expert Reply:
The Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler - 1-7/8" Ball # CT-2001-Z has bolt spacing measuring at 2-1/4 inches, but the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler - 2" Ball # CT-3001-Z is larger at 3-1/16 inches, so it will not be a direct bolt on replacement, unfortunately.
With that being said, drilling another mounting hole in the tongue of your trailer will be less expensive than the alternative. Which would be buying a ball mount with a 1-7/8" ball so you can use it with the # CT-2001-Z. I will say that this will not be outrageously expensive or anything, but it will require you to find the specific rise or drop needed and then potentially have a ball mount and ball that will not be needed again.
