Can I Cut the Crossbars on the Thule Xsporter and Can the Posts be Removed Easily?

Question:
A couple questions on the Thule Xporter -Would cutting the crossbars down to a shorter length be easily done? -Can the posts be easily removed from the bases when the rack is not needed, or would the bases need to be removed? Thanks,

When it comes to cutting, If you are planning to use the Thule Xsporter like the # TH500XT-XK4, Thule does not recommend cutting the crossbars of this system. Unfortunately, all models of Thule Xsporter include the 72-inch long crossbars. With that being said, cutting them is possible, but it would require a lot of effort, especially with dealing with the central channel on the crossbars. It is important to note that the Xsporter is designed only to fit truck bed rails.
As far as removal, the uprights and crossbar on Thule Xsporter can be removed as one unit, but you would have to take the end caps off the bottoms of each upright every time or leave them off. This can be done with leaving the bases attached to the bed rails.
