We do have an option for you as the Hopkins # HM43534 is only for the factory tow package. So because your 2021 Nissan Frontier does not have the factory tow package, you'll need a wiring kit that includes the relay jumper harness which connects to a 12-pin plug that is behind the kick panel on the passenger’s side in the cab. The correct part to add a 7-way is the following:

- Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56226

The relays and jumper harness of the # C56226 are not available as a separate part, which is why the full kit with the 7-way is needed for '21 Frontier.

Kyle S, I’m really confused by the Nissan Frontier which is a 2021 model. It apparently has the tow package. I went to a truck/ trailer place and put a Curt proportional brake controller on, and the worker noticed no 7 pin connector by the receiver. They put one of their 7pin items in plus the other 7pin part that receives the trailer plug. They could not make the set up work, they said a fuse was blown. I went to Nissan dealership and paid $39.00 for this fuse. I went back to this place and they put the new fuse in. The 7pin still does not work. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they were baffled, and told me to go home and test out the system with the trailer. NOTHING! I’m wondering if some parts are missing such as the C56226 part with the relays or other connections like the C51382 item. Not sure what to do how can I check for possible problems. Also, the dealership wants $2400 to put in a whole new trailer wire harness. I cannot afford that. Ed

@EddL Hey there, sorry for the trouble you're having! Do you know which parts the shop installed? I can tell you what we have that would work, but I'd hate for you to buy everything if you don't really need to. If they installed the brake controller already, and assuming they installed it properly, it sounds to me like you need Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # C56226. This adds a 7 way at the back and comes with the proper wiring harnesses and relays that your truck without tow package needs. I'm assuming they installed a generic 7 way without your vehicle specific parts that this kit # C56226 has.

@AndrewN Andrew, The truck / trailer place put these parts on my truck: Curt#51146 triflex next proportional trailer brake controller Curt#51383 04-C Armada/Titan/05-C Frontier/Pathfinder/Xterra brake control harness W/quick plug (PKGD) Ford/GM Multi-Tow T-Connector 7-Way & 4-Way Dual plug I’m going to see if I have the two plugs under the truck at the back driver’s side frame, and if I even have the blue and brown relays. If I have a “No tow package “ what would I need instead.? I need to not pay out $2400 just to get going again Eddy

@Eddl Thanks for that info. It sounds like they installed a brake controller and the harness that connects it to your truck under the dash, and then installed a non-vehicle-specific 7 way connector at the back for the trailer to plug into. You'll need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # C56226 since your truck didn't have a factory 7 way at the back.
