Replacement Trailer Brakes Are Buzzing And Not Slowing Down The Trailer
Updated 10/11/2021 | Published 10/10/2021 >
Question:
I ordered new brake assemblies from etrailer for my 2016 Montana fifth wheel with two axles. After installing them and adjusting the brakes I can hear a buzzing at each brake but when using the brake controller but when I take it for a test drive I have no brakes when using the brake petal or the brake controller. I tried each one while going 20 to 60 mph. I can feel a little bit of drag but not anywhere enough to stop trailer.I have readjusted brakes and still does not work. Any suggestions please

The buzzing, or sometimes referred to as humming, with trailer brakes is most often caused by a bad ground and I am pretty sure this is what is going on with your trailer. Especially with the lack of braking power you are getting.
With that being said, I suggest double checking the grounds on all four of the brakes. Each should have its own designated ground connection and it is best to not have them stacked with other grounds.
It should also be noted that there can be a slight buzz or hum when the brakes are working normally, so don't be alarmed if this does not completely dissipate. However, this should get you the braking power you are looking for an on your way.
If it does not, let me know and we can try something else.
