Are There Hydraulic 12-1/4" x 3-3/8" Trailer Brakes with Parking Brake Feature
Published 10/08/2021 >
Question:
My employers made a command decision, replacing a smaller cable-actuated parking-brake system, with a hydraulic jurry-rigged system using these hubs. I could see how these hubs could make decent service brakes, but as parking brakes, left on for sometimes months at a time, with this jurry-rigged hydraulic system, we cant get them to last more than a year before the hydraulic cylinder fails and dumps fluid all over the brake shoes. Considering these issues, and that our trailers still have channels for cable, are there any kits/parts to convert these hubs to a cable brake, are there any alternatives to this hub that you would recommend for a parking brake, and do you have any input that could point us in the right direction?

I do have a simple solution for you but we don't offer a hydraulic 12-1/4" x 3-3/8" trailer braking assembly with built-in parking brake nor is there anyway to convert from a hydraulic to cable actuated brake system that I am aware of if that's what you're asking. The best solution for you would be to simply use a set of wheel chocks like the Buyers Products 8" Wheel Chocks with 3' Rope part # 337WC24483.
