Question:
I am looking for an adapter kit to mount my awnig on a completely flat R-pod roof? The TH308960 looks very close except for being rounded!

The only way to mount your Thule Hideaway Awning to the roof of your 2016 Forest River R-Pod 179 would be by mounting crossbars to the roof, as the # TH308960 is designed for sprinter van roofs, not the roof of your R-Pod.
Now based on the pictures I was able to find of your camper it looks like there may be some accessories on the roof that may make this difficult, but a universal rail and crossbar kit such as the # Y02-490B may work. You will want to check out your roof to see if this will work or not.
You would then use the roof rack adapters # TH490001 to allow you to install the awning to the crossbars.
However this is quite a bit of extra work compared to just using the direct mount version of the Hideaway awning, the 48 sq ft # TH490018, which would mount directly to the wall of your camper. This would be much more cost effective, and will be much easier to install so it is the option I recommend going with.
