Question:

I have a 2005 Safari Trek, W20 Workhorse chassis. It already has a 7 pin plug where the terminal with a blue wire connection operates my trailer brake lights. I want to install a Prodigy brake controller to also operate the trailer brakes. The blue wire apparently terminates at the brake pedal switch. Can I disconnect this from the switch and connect it to the Prodigy blue wire so it will then operate the trailer brakes and brake lights through the brake controller? Thanks...

You do not want to disconnect any wiring from the brake switch on your 2005 Safari Trek Motorhome. I cannot find any information that shows that your blue wire from your 7-way is the same as what connects to your brake switch. Normally if you have wiring from the factory they will be bundled with a power wire, brake switch signal wire, ground wire and the wire that travels to the 7-way. I cannot find evidence that this is what you have 2005 Chevrolet W20. If you do have these wires they will be bundled together near the brake switch under your dash.

You can also trace the wiring coming from the 7-way connector towards the front of your motorhome to determine if the brake controller wire does run all the way to the front. I have read instances where it was cut off a few feet from the 7-way connector. If that is the case you will need some 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to run to the front of the chassis to the Brake Controller # 90195. We also have the Wiring Kit # 5506 that includes the necessary circuit breaker and 25' of duplex wire to connect the brake controller circuit and the 12 volt charge line if that is also not connected.
