Can I Use a Non-Universal Pioneer Platform to Mount to My Vortex Crossbars on My 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

Question:

Is it possible to mount non universal pioneer platform to vortex crossbars? I have 72inch vortex crossbars on a retrax bed cover and have 76" Long x 49" Wide pioneer platform and am wondering if I can mount the platform on the crossbars.

I have an answer for you. The 76" x 49" Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform # RR45TB actually isn't designed to attach to roof rack crossbars, but instead mounts directly to a vehicle-specific fit kit. There isn't a separate kit available that would allow you to mount this particular size Pioneer Platform to your Vortex Crossbars.

I reached out to my tech at Rhino-Rack, and she confirmed that the only way to use your non-universal platform is by installing the Backbone Mounting System for Tacomas # RRRTTB1. This mounting system only works for double cabs only. Sadly, Rhino-Rack does not carry Backbones if you have the access cab model.

For another option, you can use the Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform Rack for Crossbars - Aluminum - 58" Long x 47" Wide # RR42115BF to mount onto your Vortex crossbars. This is the only way to use a pioneer system with your crossbars. All of the included hardware for accomplishing this is included in with the platform.
