Can I Upsize My Thule Crossbars On 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen?

Question:

My friend has a thule aerobar that fit his 2012 A3. Your website lists it at 53 inches. I am hoping to pick up # TH710401 for my 2015 VW Sportwagen based on another posters question. Is this a correct fitting or will they be too long post recommends 47 inches for my VW

Thule does recommend using the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars Black - 47" # TH711220 along with Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 for your 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen with factory roof rails. Since the 53" bars # TH711420 are not much longer this would likely be fine, however, there is a measurement you can take to verify fitment. There is a channel under the Thule crossbar on each side, measuring about 10". If you measure between the roof rails on your vehicle, this distance needs to be 33" or greater in order to upgrade to the 53" crossbars.

While I think the above method would work fine for you, a roof rack that would definitely work without any doubts is the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars # MPG216. This setup attaches to your factory roof rails and provides 58" of aerodynamic crossbars. I attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
