2011 Range Rover with Trailer Assist Does Not Recognize Trailer with LED Tail Lights

Updated 05/28/2013 | Published 05/22/2013

Question:

I have a 2011 Range Rover with both 4-way and 7-way trailer wiring connectors. My trailer has LED lights and the rover does not consistently sense the trailer - trailer assist doesnt begin install routine. Will this adapter add sufficient resistance to the LED lights for the rover to sense the trailer? Is there a resistor pack that plugs directly into the 4-way connector that will work instead? I dont need to connect 4-way wiring to a 7-way adapter.

First an adapter with load resistors that goes from a 4-Way flat to a 4-Way flat is not available. You would need to use the 7-Way to 4-Way adapter, # C35FR for that. This particular adapter was designed to offer enough resistance when towing a trailer with LED lights so you no longer get those errors.

The other option is to install load resistors, like # DI34ZR for a 2-pack, in line on the trailer wiring for each circuit.
