Question:
Can I use this winch for my Scarab 285 Id 30 ft jet boat with a weight of 6000 lbs

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25215 will work well with your Scarab 285 Id. It has a load capacity of 3,000lbs. This number does not directly corelate with your Scarab as you are not trying to lift the boat with the winch, you are only pulling it completely onto the trailer when loading.
As I see your trailer does use bunk boards you will use the 2-1 ratio for the total weight capacity. This makes the winch capable of loading a 6,000lb boat which is what your Scarab weighs.
If you had roller bunks like the Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks # DL21755 the correct ration is 3-1, which would be 9,000lbs of maximum boat capacity.
