Will the Conventional Ramp Door Spring Fit My Door with Brackets 81 Inches Apart

Updated 07/24/2026 | Published 08/25/2021

Question:

I have an enclosed trailer, the single spring shaft is bent. I was looking for a replacement and found your dual spring model. The brackets on my trailer are 81inch apart. The pulley dimension ,outside to outside, 88 1/4. Will the M394FR work for this application?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Yes. The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer # M394FR fits 67-3/4" to 95" wide trailer doors. Your door with the brackets 81" apart falls in this range, so this spring will work well for you.

Hello, I ordered this dual spring kit. The problem that I’m running into is I shortened the shaft for my 6’9 wide trailer and the brackets that are inside my trailer for mounting this kit are 67 3/4 apart - So there’s not enough space in between the springs so I can really only wind up one spring because there’s not enough room for the other one as it will touch the other spring. Did I order the wrong kit then I worked with one of your customer service reps and they said they should fit a 7 foot wide trailer- Would you be able to give me the spring length on the 160 pound dual spring for 7 foot trailer? Should I order that one then I’m assuming the 160 pound spring would be shorter and length. Thank you
