Should the rv be running when connecting the tow and tow vehicle

It doesn't really make a difference if your RV is running or turned off while actually connecting. Turning your RV off sounds like an unnecessary extra step. If you're having issues with the wiring or your connectors just let me know what what's going on and I will be happy to help troubleshoot. Frayed or incorrect wiring or severed connections could be causing a short that you would encounter whether you're hooking up or towing.
