Question:
It seems that the higher positoin , as shipped, does not result in teh jay being able to close well on the elliptical factory bar. How do you remove the jaw from the clamp in order to reposition it in another slot?

It is a fairly simple process to adjust the front clamp on the Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Fork Mount # Y02098. You first need to loosen and remove the skewer bolt, then slide back the plastic cover that fits around the top wing nut. You can then loosen the wing nut which is connected to the T-bolt holding it onto the crossbar and this will free up the clamp so that you can adjust it to another setting. I attached a demonstration video which shows how to install the carrier onto crossbars, so you will basically want to follow this video in reverse order since you are removing the carrier.
