We do have a roof rack system confirmed to fit your 1997 Toyota Avalon but but none of them are Thule systems. I've linked all of the ones that fit.
I recommend the Inno rack, parts # INB127, # INSUT, and # INK223. This rack includes trhe locks to secure it to your roof. I've linked a video of it being installed on a Camry for you to take a look at.
