Question:

The steps will only retract about 3/4 of the way then they make an awful sound like an air ratchet for a couple of seconds then nothing

It sounds like something might be bent or damaged either on the steps, gearbox, or motor of your Kwikee Electric RV Step Complete Assembly 32 Series # LC372261. First remove the gearbox and motor and manually move the steps to see if they are the cause. If not then check the gear on the outside of the motor housing for any teeth that are damaged. If there is no damage then the culprit is most likely the internal gears in the gearbox. you can replace the gearbox with the Replacement Gear Box and A Linkage for Kwikee Electric RV Steps Item # LC379160.
