Do I need to use any kind of sealant on the threads of my replacement toilet flange?

According to Valterra, you should use a non-hardening sealant safe for ABS plastic. Don't use standard pipe dope or teflon tape as the pipe dope will harden over time which can cause leaking. Teflon tape acts as a lubricant, not a sealant. The danger of using that with ABS pipe is that it can cause the installer to over torque the fitting which causes the pipe or fitting to deform which would then very likely leak.
