Question:
I have a Heartland pioneer RL 250 with tandem 3500 lb axles. Are there any issues with changing to 6k axles?

You can replace the 3500lb axles on your Heartland Pioneer RL 250 with 6000lb axles, but you will first need to measure your current axle from hub face to hub face, and spring center to spring center.
Once you have that measurement you will need to find an axle with the same measurements. For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 6,000 lbs # 7461121 has a hub face to hub face measurement of 95", and a spring center to spring center measurement of 80" as shown in the included diagram.
If this matches the dimensions of your current axle this would work just fine as a replacement, but I do no recommend doing so.
The reason for this is the 6000lb axles require hubs like the # 8-201-9UC3-EZ which have the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern while your 3500lb axles more than likely have the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, so you will likely need to replace your wheels as well.
In addition upgrading the axles on your trailer will not increase the GVWR of your trailer as you will still be limited to the lowest rated component, which would now be the frame of your trailer.
I included videos of the products mentioned should you decide to replace the axles, and a link to all of our wheels with the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern for you to take a look at.
