Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations For a 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Question:
This truck came to me with a flat connector already wired in, I believe from the factory. The converter seems to only click intermittently, and I have no trailer signals. If I replace the converter in already in place, do you think your product will plug in to the same places?

It sounds like you have an aftermarket trailer wiring harness. Whether it is aftermarket or factory, that clicking noise you hear and the trailer lights not working indicate that there is a problem internally with the converter and it will need to be replaced.
There are several options and I have included a link to them for you. The Curt harness you have referenced, # C56513, is a fit but this harness has a 5-Way flat trailer connector. A 5-Way flat is most common on boat trailers that require a reverse light signal to activate an electric reverse lockout.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for you that explain where to make the connections to install this harness. Bascially, the harness plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring.
For a regular 4-Way flat you can use # 118496. This harness also plugs in line with the tail light wiring. I have included links to the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.
