What Roof Rack/Carrier Do You Recommend for Surfboards/Paddleboards on a 2021 Ford Edge?
Question:
Hi , I am ordering a 2021 Ford Edge and will need a roof rack for surfboards and/or paddle boards. 1. I am wondering if it is better or more secure to get a normal roof or have side rails factory installed? 2. Which rack would you recommend?

The great thing about having a naked roof on your 2021 Ford Edge is that you have the ability to mount an extremely secure roof rack system even without side rails. You will not need to install factory side rails in order to get the security you need.
With that being said, I recommend the following roof rack system for your bare roof (with or without panoramic glass):
- Yakima CoreBar Crossbars - Steel - Black - 60" Long - Qty 2 # Y00422
- BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Naked Roofs - Qty 4 # Y28TR
- BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 2 # Y06102
- BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 2 # Y06139
- (Optional to deter theft) Yakima Same-Key Lock Cores # Y07204
With the above roof rack system, you will be able to safely transport accessories on your 2021 Ford Edge. For a carrier for surfboards and/or paddle boards, I recommend the Inno Board Locker Surfboard Carrier - Locking - Clamp On - 3 Shortboards or 2 Longboards # INA744. The Board Locker will allow you to transport 3 shortboard or 2 longboard surfboards/paddleboards on your roof as long as the maximum combined thickness does not exceed 1-5/8 inches. It involves an easy, clamp-on installation with included hardware.
