Question:
I have the Curt 24x60 folding hitch cargo carrier C18132. Can the S64720 roof bike rack be installed on that instead of on the roof?

The Swagman Rooftop Bike Carrier, part # S64720, is designed as a universal-mount bike carrier that can be adapted to most brands and types of roof rack cross bars. Since it uses 3-1/8-inch wide u-bolt hardware to secure the wheel tray to the mounting surface it can be fitted to a variety of crossbars, including the wider aerodynamic type and most factory bars.
I pulled a sample from our warehouse and took measurements. The assembled Swagman wheel tray is only 54 inches long, so it would not be able to span the length of the Curt basket to reach the main side rails on each end. It would therefore have to mount to the steel mesh decking material. It may be that the end-to-end length of your bike is too great to fit within the interior of the basket. The Curt basket measures 60 inches in length and 6 inches in height. You can measure the end-to-end length of your bike 6 inches above the ground to determine if it will fit within the rails of the Curt basket.
Another option is to use a hitch-mount bike carrier; this would of course require removal of the Curt basket from the hitch receiver. I have included a link to our product page for platform-type bike carriers that fit 2-inch hitch receivers. One such example is the Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670, which holds up to 2 bikes of 35 lbs each and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Adam, Thanks for the reply and you completely answered my question. I will definitely see if my bike fits completely inside the curt basket with the 6 inch sides. If the bike is too long, I may try to add some makeshift load bars to place on top of the railed sides. If that does not work, I will try the fork mount method which Im sure will work. I would however prefer not to have to remove the front tire for maximum convenience.I love all the instructional videos and video reviews on the website.
