Question:
My 1500hd is used to tow 5th wheel and has a 7pin conn in bed and below bumper.I am attempting to replace as bumpber mounted conn is broken. I do not have a quick plug and have wires to be spliced to connect new connector. I have 1 red and and 1 black wire from truck wire of heavier gauge than the light wires and one remaining wire black coming out of connector which one should be connected to the remaining black connector wire?

There is no universal or standard wiring color code, unfortunately, so you will have to test the wires you have with a circuit tester like # PTW2979 if you need one. Then you can go by the diagram I have included to determine which wire will attach to the 7-Ways 7 locations.
