Question:
My tundra has the tow package with a tow - haul button on the shifter. My new trailer has electric brakes and the tundra has a round 7 connector. I noticed in my glove box there was a wiring adapter in a package with a white connector on one end and colored wires on the other. What is it i need to buy and do to get this working?

It sounds like you have the factory brake controller harness so all you will have to do is plug the one end into the truck and attach the wires from the other end to the brake controller using butt connectors like # 05731-5.
Your factory harness most likely will plug into the same place as the aftermarket # 3040-P. The plug-in port should be located under the dash, left of the steering column taped to another harness near/above the emergency brake pedal. I have linked the instructions for # 3040-P to help.
Your factory harness should be labeled with the functions so you will need to match functions with the brake controller wiring. You cannot go by wire color because there is no standard for color. The brake controller wire functions are as follows:
White is ground
Black is 12 volt power
Red is input from stop light switch
Blue is output to the trailer brakes
