Will My Spoiler be Safe when Attaching the Yakima Hangout on a 2020 BMW X3?

Question:

Seem like the top edge is a plastic piece part of a spoiler. I know anchors are usually hook on the edge.. And if the edge can be hooked on, how about the strap going to stay on the plastic spoiler, will the spoiler take the load?

For mounting the Yakima HangOut # Y02637 on your 2020 BMW X3, the upper straps attach onto the top opening of the hatch (over the rear spoiler). The straps will put some pressure on your spoiler, but the etrailer team has tested the HangOut on your 2020 BMW X3, and it will safely allow you to transport your bikes on your vehicle without damage to the spoiler. The single-bike weight capacity of the HangOut is 35 pounds. If you plan on mounting two bikes, the per-bike weight capacity decreases to 30 pounds in order to protect the rear spoiler from damage.

If you want extra security for your HangOut to deter theft, I recommend the following parts:

- Steel Reinforced Security Strap # Y02623 (to deter theft of the HangOut).
- Same-Key System Cable Lock # Y07233 and the Same-Key System Core # Y07202 (to deter theft of the bikes from the HanOut).
