Roof Rack Recommendation for Carrying 2 Heavy Kayaks on a 2018 Honda CR-V Naked Roof

Question:

I have two tandem kayaks with combined weight around 145lbs not including the bilateral kayak carrier. What is the max load capacity of the INB137 crossbars? I have Thule Evo Clamp Foot Pack which states a Maximum load 165 lb. Will these Inno bars be sufficient or does the Thule square/aero crossbars offer more load capacity. thank you for your expertise.

It looks like you have a naked roof on your 2018 Honda CR-V. Because of this, there is no Inno crossbar fit for your vehicle, but we do have alternate roof racks for you.

As for the Thule option, the highest capacity of any Thule combination is 110 pounds (the lowest capacity component must be used, so the 165-pound capacity feet will still be hindered by smaller capacity components).

In fact, the highest capacity of any combination available for your vehicle is 165 pounds. That is why I recommend the Yakima JetStream system (it has the highest capacity at 165 pounds). This consists of:

JetStream Crossbars, part # Y00425
BaseLine Towers, part # Y28TR
2 Fit Kits, part # Y06188 and # Y06189

You will need to weigh your kayak carrier to make sure that it isn't over 20 pounds (which would put the combined weight over the roof rack's 165-pound capacity). You'll also need to check your owner's manual to ensure it can handle all of this weight. Finally, you'll need to check your carrier's manual to find its weight capacities.
