Question:

I have a 2021 Highlander Limited. I need a hitch and harness for my boat trailer which has a 5 pin connector . When I search for parts, I can only find a 4 pin connector for the highlander. I know Toyota makes a wiring harness with a 4 pin connector. My trailer has a 5 pin connector the extra pin connects to the brakes. Do you have parts and/or a solution that will allow the connections to be made? Will the solution allow the trailer brakes to work or not?

The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2021 Toyota Highlander is the etrailer Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e75ZR. It has a hidden design and it features a bolt-on install. Then for the trailer wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # TK99FR. Unfortunately, the 5-way is rather uncommon, so most plug-in-play kits only have 4-ways. That said, you can easily adapt this to using the 4 to 5-Way Adapter part # C57187.
