Lubricating Trunnion Bolts On a Husky Centerline Weight Distribution Trailer Sway Hitch

Question:
The owners manual for my Husky Centerline TS Hitch says the 3/4 inch trunnion bolts come lubricated from the factory. Re-lubricate if needed with bearing/axle grease. My question is how do you lubricate a bolt? Do you remove the bolt and lubricate the 1 threads 2 the washer surfaces or 3 both?

They are referring to bolt shank and not the threads of the bolt on the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control HT32218. The Grease # L11316 is needed to prevent the bolts from rusting in place and preventing the movement of the hitch head when adjustments are needed.
Do not apply grease to the threads of the bolt or nut as this could cause them to not tighten to the correct torque specification. Grease is okay on the inner rings of the washer but should not be used on the flat surfaces of the washers. Again the grease could cause the torque specifications on the bolts to be incorrect.
