Question:

So i have a 2020 LimitedX with the black and chrome flush rail. Will this rack system carry a tandem 80lb 13.5ft kayak safely at highway speeds 65-70mph? Also, i have a pano roof and would like to be able to take the cross bars off when i am not transporting anything. How easy will it be to remove the cross bars? And can it be done multiple times without damaging the system assuming i do it right each time

The Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack # RRRVP27, which is confirmed to fit your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, has a weight capacity of 149lbs. You will want to check your owner's manual to verify your roof's weight capacity, but my research tells me that your roof has a 150lb weight limit so you should have no issue mounting a kayak that weighs 80lbs. This roof rack is very easy to install or remove; once the legs are installed, there is just one bolt on each side of the crossbar to secure it to the legs (see attached video). This can be removed and re-installed without damaging the system since you will only be removing 4 bolts.

For a kayak carrier, I think the best option is the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier # LR54FR. This is a really nice adjustable carrier that uses rubberized ratcheting arms to secure the kayak to the roof rack. Straps are not required since the arms will ratchet tight against the kayak to keep it locked into place even at highway speeds. I attached a demonstration video regarding this kayak carrier.
