Question:
Hello. I currently have the Blue Ox Sway Pro. I think its the BXW0350 or 550 since the trailer only weighs 2840 empty. I originally pulled it with a Jeep Cherokee. I am currently upgrading both the tow vehicle and the trailer. New vehicle is 2016 Expedition and new trailer has GVWR of 8995 lbs and hitch weight of 750 lbs. Ground to coupler is 22.25. Ground to top of receiver is 20.25. So two questions... 1 Is the 7 hole shank sufficient or do I need 9? 2 Do I simply need to buy new sway bars for the higher weight rating? Thanks

Thanks so much for that good info, and one of the nice things about the Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution hitches is that when you upgrade your trailer to something heavier (or lighter) you can simply swap out the spring bars to ones with the right rating, and you're set. So you don't have to purchase anything else for the system, you can just add the spring bars.
Since loaded tongue weight rating is going to be in the range of 12 percent, you will want to go with the SwayPro bars rated for loaded tongue weights of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs:
- Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro - 1,500 lbs TW # BXW4008
As for your shank, you will not need a new one; the 7-hole shanks come with a maximum rise of 8 inches, and since you will have a 2 inch rise you can use your current shank.
