Firestone Coil-Rite Helper Springs Leaking
Updated 05/19/2021 | Published 05/18/2021 >
Question:
Hi I bought the firestone f4176 bags for my jetta sport wagon about 10 months ago and now they dont hold 1 psi of air. Ive isolated the issue to where the airline goes into the bag on both. Is there any warranty on the bags themselves and if so how do I go about doing so

The Firestone Coil-Rite # F4176 system is covered by a lifetime warranty.
Is the leak occurring at the spot where the line itself secures in the fitting, or where the fitting is installed in the air bag?
It sounds as if you're leaking where the line enters the fitting. The junction between the fitting and the air line is VERY dependent on a good fit of the line in the fitting. If the line isn't fully seated, or the cut on the end of the line isn't EXACTLY perpendicular (or perfectly square), the air line will leak like a sieve every time. Push on the fitting firmly and pull the air line off, and re-cut the end of the air line, being sure the cut is perfectly square, use a brand-new utility knife blade so you get a clean cut without deforming the air line.
If you were only leaking on one side, I'd be more inclined to look for a defect in the bag or fitting itself, but since it's occurring on both sides, it would tend to indicate that the air lines weren't cut perfectly square, so that'd be the best place to start.
