Question:

I am trying to decide between the Yakima Skybox 16, 18, or 21. We have a 2016 Kia Sorento LX. Will they all fit and give access to the trunk opening?

You will need to take some measurements to determine which Yakima Skybox cargo box will fit your roof and still allow the rear hatch to be opened. Measure from the center of the front crossbar all the way back to the line where the roof meets the trunk; this is called hatch clearance. You will also need to measure your crossbar spread, which is the distance from the center of one crossbar to the center of the next crossbar (see photos for help with measuring).

Compare your measurements to the specs on these cargo boxes:
-Yakima SkyBox NX 16 # Y95AV requires hatch clearance of 47" or more and a crossbar spread range 24" - 36".
-Yakima Skybox 18 # Y07336 requires hatch clearance of 57" or more and a crossbar spread range of 24" - 42".
-Yakima Skybox 21 # Y07337 requires hatch clearance of 57" or more and a crossbar spread range of 24" - 42".

All of these will fit the factory roof rack if that is what you have on your Kia. If you don't have a roof rack installed then let me know what roof configuration you have (roof rails or no roof rails) and I will find a compatible roof rack for you.
