Question:
Can I use this item to replace the current 7 pole connector on my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad cab pickup?

Expert Reply:
You can use the Pollack 7-Pole Trailer Socket, # PK12-707E, on your 2001 Dodge Dakota quad cab. Keep in mind, this is not an OEM replacement socket, so the wires will need to be attached to each terminal in the socket. I have attached a photo showing how this socket should be wired. It is important that you wire the socket by function and not wire color since vehicle manufacturers are not known to follow an industry standard color code.
If you are replacing an OEM 7-way, then you may be interested in the Tow Ready Custom Fit Multi-Plug Connector, # 20135. This was designed as a direct replacement for OEM 7-way connectors on the 2001 Dodge Dakota.
