Wire Gauge to Use Between 3000 Watt Inverter and AC Panel

Question:

What size wire and type, stranded or solid should I use between a 2000 or 3000 watt inverter to my AC panel ?

For a 3,000 watt inverter like the # 34275013 it's recommended to use 1 or 0 AWG between it and the panel. Solid or stranded is fine.

3000 watt inverter pushes 28 amps max. So why not 10/2 Awg wire?

@Marshall My bad. Yes on the inverter output you could use thinner gauge wire like what you mentioned.
