Replacing 7-Wire 4-Way Flat Plug with a 4-Wire 4-Way Plug

Question:

Greetings. I just ordered 2 #HM48110 wire connectors for my 2009 Tracker Trailstar boat trailer. I referenced a response on your website by Michael H. to place the order. Im just unsure of the connections. Im including a photo of my existing connector. Michaels response said to just splice the 2 white wires to the white wire on the other connector. I have 3 white wires and am unsure of the proper connections. I tried to find an identical connector to the original one in the picture and could not find one anywhere. Thank You.

You will splice your 3 white wires on your connector and put into the one white wire on the Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48110. The 2 brown wires on your connector will splice into the one brown wire on the Hopkins connector. And the yellow and green will connect from your old to the yellow and green on the new connector.

They do not make connectors like yours anymore due to the complexity of the wiring. Your connector had dedicated ground wires that ran all the way to the individual lights and the newer systems use the frame of the trailer to act as the ground. Less wiring will make it cheaper to produce and less points of failure.
