Question:
I saw the thread https://www.etrailer.com/question-274019.html but wanted to clarify that I will be using a Brake Buddy I already own and will need to have it powered other than via the cigarette lighter due to the battery having to be disconnected, per my Ford Owners Manual. Can you spell out the parts needed to ensure I get everything for my mechanic to install? Base Plate Wiring / Diodes Wiring connection for front of car to connect to RV via pigtail Power for Brade Buddy

To set up your 2017 Ford Explorer you will need the following items other than the braking system which you stated you already have:
1. Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Item # BX2668. This base plate has removable tabs so when you are not flat towing the vehicle they can be removed to maintain a clean look on the front of the vehicle.
2. Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar Item # BX7420. This tow bar is compatible with the Blue Ox base plate, has a 10,000lb towing capacity, is non binding, and comes with the safety cables.
3. Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Item # RM-15267. The diode kit allows your vehicle to receive light functions from the motor home while towing. It comes with the umbilical and the 6 pole plug for the front of the Explorer.
4. Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Item # RM-766. Since the battery has to be disconnected on the vehicle, this kit will allow you to have a small button inside that allows you to disconnect the battery power without having to remove the battery cable each time you want to tow the vehicle.
5. 12 Volt Outlet Kit Item # RM-9332. Since you will be using a portable braking system and the battery has to be disconnected, it will require this kit. It can be wired directly to the power pin on the 6 pole plug or directly to the postive post on the battery.
