Expert Reply:
The Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # F2701 you were looking at is confirmed to fit your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab Diesel 2WD and will give you up to 7500lbs of load leveling support for when you are towing a trailer or carrying a heavy payload.
To keep from needing to manually inflate the air helper springs each time you are ready to tow a trailer or carry a heavy payload I recommend adding an on-board air compressor kit like the Firestone Air Command II - Analog Gauge w/ Heavy Duty Compressor - Dual Function - 150 psi # F2219 which will allow you to adjust the air pressure in each air helper spring independently from the comfort of your driver seat.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
