Question:

Thanks Andrew I am now looking at getting a larger cargo box (3371712250) and a hitch cargo carrier (CC-100). I was wondering if you had a recommendation for the best way to secure/bolt the box to the carrier. Also what device would you recommend to reduce hitch rattle?

You are correct, 44" x 19" x 17-1/4" is regarding the exterior of the Buyers Products Utility Storage Box - Black - # 3371712240 which also includes the lid. For the usable interior dimensions you are looking at about 41" long, 18-1/2" wide, and 15-1/2" deep. I attached a demonstration video for you to check out which shows these dimensions.

In order to install the Buyers Products Utility Storage Box - Black - 51" x 19-1/2" x 22-1/2" # 3371712250 onto the 23x59 Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier # CC-100, you could use universal u-bolts like CE Smith U-Bolt - Zinc-Plated Steel - 3" Long x 3-1/8" Wide x 7/16" Diameter - Qty 1 # CE15252A. 2 of these may get the job done, but you could install 4 just to be on the safe side. You will just need to drill a few holes in the storage box and feed the u bolt through the box and cargo carrier and thread the washers and nuts on the bottom of the cargo carrier.
