Is Trimming Required for Draw-Tite Hitch On 2016 Mini Countryman

Question:
Just received the c11333 Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4inch for my Mini Countryman 2016. Looking at the installation instructions it looks to me that that it is necessary to cut out a piece of the bumper. My bumper has a metal plate on the underside of the bumper. Does that prevent me from installing the hitch? Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11333 is a fit for all models of a 2016 Mini Countryman excluding John Cooper Works Editions. It does require trimming of the underside of the rear bumper fascia, but this is plastic. This hitch is rated as "challenging" taking 90-180 minutes.
