Recommended Roof Rack for a 2021 Honda CR-V and Compatibility with Thule Accessories

Question:

There is no rack currently on my CRV. What rack system would you recommend thats easiest to install? Thule or Yakima? Also is a yakima ski rack and paddle board rack compatible with a Thule? Im purchasing 98848 trailer hitch to carry bikes. I found out after the fact that you can not tow a trailer with a CRV Hybrid. Do you know why? I love your customer service and helpful videos. I was able to install wiring harness and trailer hitch on my 2005 Honda Element. The wiring was damaged when I was towing my fault and the fuse blew. I was so glad that I did the wiring as instructed. It really saved my electrical system on the car. Thanks

As for a roof rack for your 2021 Honda CR-V, I recommend the Yakima JetStream Crossbars, part # Y00425. They are aero-style bars that reduce wind drag and noise. To mount them to your roof, you will need the BaseLine Towers, part # Y28TR, and the two fit kits, # Y06188 and # Y06189. This system mount to a naked roof without rails (if you have rails, let me know), and as for the compatibility between brands, they are perfectly compatible.

With regards to the CR-V being able to tow, some vehicles just aren't built to be able to do that. It could be because the frame cannot handle the tongue weight or because the transmission can't handle the towing weight. It could also be something undisclosed by the manufacturer. The only thing you can do is be sure to abide by that restriction.
