It looks like my 2017 vw Tiguan has a socket for a trailer plug. What adapter do I need to make it a 4 plug.

Thanks for the picture!
Even though your 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan has the US Car connector for a 7-way connector you will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the pins as Volkswagen did not always include the module to power the connector.
If your connector has power, you will need the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Vehicle End # HM40950 which will give you both a 7-way and 4-way connector and mounting bracket # PK12711U.
If your connector does not have power you can have your local Volkswagen dealership install the module and activate it, or install the # 118675 which will give you the 4-way connector you need without having to go to the dealership.
The # 118675 will plug in inline of your factory tail light connectors, and has its own module. You will however need to run a power wire from the module to the positive terminal of your battery with the included fuse so the module does not pull too much power through your factory wiring and cause any issues.
