Question:
Hey there! I previously had 2 Thule Hullivators on my old SUV VW Touareg with 60inch Thule Evo Wingbars, and the Thule Rapid Crossroad Footpack. Now I drive a 2020 Ford Expedition Max and hoping to rig up the two kayaks with the two Hullivators. The 60inch crossbars dont quite give me the 4inch clearance on both sides that I need. What is the easiest way to achieve the double hullivators on this car? I considered getting Yakima 70inch bars but I dont know if they work with Thule rapid crossroad footpack. What Yakima crossbar and footpack do I need? Or, is there a longer Thule crossbar that would work with the Rapid Crossroad Footpack and the Hullivators? Thank you so much for your help! After a lot of wasted time researching with no answers to show for it, Im differing to the experts!

Mounting two Hullavators # TH898 requires 57 inches of crossbar length (inside of the mounting points) and a minimum of four inches on both ends outside of the feet to operate. With that being said, you will need crossbars with a minimum length of 65 inches. The Yakima JetStream crossbars 70-inches # Y00427 will do the trick. The towers you need are the TimberLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails # Y33TR.
However, I called my contact with Thule and he strongly recommends against mounting two Hullavators # TH898. There might be legal restrictions against using crossbars that are 70-inches for the Hullavators, and the weight restriction of two kayaks on crossbars with Hullavators will test the integrity of the roof rack and components.
If you are wanting to mount the two kayaks on your old roof rack setup with your old Volkswagen Touareg safely, I recommend the Thule Compass Kayak and SUP Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style, Post Style, or Saddle - 2 Kayaks or SUPs # TH890000. The Compass will work with your Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401 and your Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum # TH711520.
