Question:

My roof is flat with rubber strips running parallel to the car. I can’t find a roof rack and cross bars that are compatible with my make and model.

While some vehicles have removable covers for crossbar mounts, the rubber strips you are seeing on your 2020 Ford Escape are just roof seals and do not have anything to do with the crossbars. Since you have a naked roof and do not have factory side rails, you will want to go with a roof rack that attaches to the door jam.
