Expert Reply:
The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent part # MA00-07500K has a self-resetting fuse on the circuit board which protects the unit for power spikes so there is no need for any additional circuit protection such as a voltage regulator. The power leads will be run straight to the source with nothing in-between.
