Installing Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails on a 2012 Ford F250

Question:
The installation details on page 1 detail 2 indicate a dimension of 27 5/8” from the rear rail to the back of the truck bed. This kit is designed to work for both 8ft and 6 3/4ft beds. Does the 27 5/8” dimension apply to both bed lengths? It appears to me that the dimension might be different recognizing the dimension shown from the axle centerline to the hitch centerline.

This can seem counterintuitive, but the 27 5/8 measurement for the install of the Reese rail and bracket kit # RP56016-53 applies to both 8 foot and 6 3/4 foot beds. Slider hitches will generally sit closer to the cab of the vehicle whilst in the towing position, keeping it almost centered over the axle. Long beds using fixed hitches will stay at that centered point.
I have also included an install video of this system being installed on 2012 F-250 long bed for you to check out.
