Question:

Is there free play and horizontal movement in the clasp that locks the swing arm? At 6 minutes 10 seconds into your video review, it appears to be rocking back and forth badly. Is this normal? I hope they are not all like that or something was loose in the video.

I see the movement you are referring to in the attached video. The Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender # Y02483 will likely add some form of bounce or movement compared to not using it at all since it adds a few components and moving parts to the bike rack setup. But in this case, the excess free play was likely due to the latch needing an adjustment and needing to be tightened down more. This latch connects the two pieces of the swing away hitch extender together and is typically maintenance-free, but can sometimes have the need to be tightened to ensure a tight latching mechanism.
