Roof Sealant for MaxxFan Install Plus Roof Vent Cover

Question:

Two questions 1. I have a 20021 Forest River XLR Nitro 405, when installing new fans what type/brand sealant should I use for the roof construction. If needed I can Forest River if needed. 2. I have a MAXFan 4 speed fan 4 speed came in the RV stock in the bathroom, I would like to put a rain cover over the existing fan, I do not trust the auto sensor not to fail in a Alabama rain storm, which cover/s would work?

Expert Reply:

To seal around your new roof fan I would use the Alpha Systems # AL98KV Self-Leveling Sealant. To cover a MaxxFan I would use the MaxxAir # MA00-955002 in black or the # MA00-955001 in white roof vent covers. These attach fast when installing on a MaxxAir fan.

There is an optional MaxxAir # MA00-955202 bug screen, but you have a screen inside and this mess will further reduce air flow in my opinion.
