Question:

Is part # FVK8017-00 a correct replacement for fantastic model 1000 ? Date 01/98. Also is your replacement fan motor 3 speed capable?

I contacted the manufacturer and Item # FVK8017-00 is not the correct replacement. They advised that because of the vents age, in order to replace the vent fan with something that would be compatible, you would have to go with the Fan-Tastic Vent 7350 Series Upgrade Kit Item # FV807359 and the Replacement Fan Motor Assembly Kit for Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent Fans Item # FVK8017-00. The Fantastic Model 1000 is not a model number in their system however; the 7350 would work because of the wireless remote and it would not require any additional wiring modifications. This kit provides a powered and manual lift. This is not a multi speed fan assembly.

If you are wanting a 3 speed fan it may be a better option to replace the whole assembly. There are a couple options I recommend that are slightly different. Item # FV802250 has 3 speeds, is a manual lift but has a built in thermostat. The automatic, thermostat-regulated settings conserve energy by running only when preset temperature is reached. The fan can also has a reverse mode so it can be used as a ceiling fan.
